Allison Shipman
LICSW
My counseling style emphasizes one’s strengths and helping clients make positive and practical changes. Much of my counseling focuses on the areas of anxiety and depression management, grief, chronic illness, women’s and singles’ issues, life and career transitions, pre-martial counseling, relationship difficulties, encouraging those in full-time ministry, spiritual growth, parenting concerns, including living with a special needs child and adoption.
I grew up in Kentucky and moved to South Carolina in 1992. My husband has been a pastor for the last 30 years which affords me to draw from my life's work foremost as a Christian and as a licensed counselor.
I provide therapy for individuals and couples. I also have a background in working with adults and caregivers of those with dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease and have facilitated support groups for each.
I have my Master’s in Social Work from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Kentucky. I love to read, travel, and spend time with family and friends. Life can be challenging. I consider it a privilege to walk on this journey with you.
